Background Information: Nene Yashiro is a teenage girl attending Kamome Gakuen as a second year student and a member of the gardening club. She also is secretly the assistant to one of the resident ghosts, Hanako-kun, Number Seven of the Kamome Seven Mysteries- and the strongest. Their duties are to protect the balance between humans and supernatural beings, keeping humans safe from dangerous spirits and maintaining peace amongst the supernaturals. Nene accomplishes this through two methods: altering stories and rumors about the supernatural being to more peaceful or benevolent alternatives ("if you give the mokke candy, they will return what they stole from you without harming anyone else", as opposed to "if you see the mokke's true form, it will kill you", for example), and pacifying and depowering berserk supernaturals who are lashing out and endangering humans by entering their boundary and destroying their yorishiro- the item they treasure most, transformed into the source of their powers. It's noted that she's unique in her ability to do this, but why has not been stated yet.

Nene came into Hanako's employ when she first came to him to ask for a wish: she wanted her crush to like her back. After multiple rather mundane attempts to win him over, Nene steals a set of mermaid scales from Hanako after he reveals that they're a love boost item that "bind two souls with an unbreakable bond". Turns out, this means that whichever two people eat the scales will share a curse of being transformed into a fish and serving the mermaid who the scales came from forever. As Nene had eaten a scale before both changing her mind about using such an item on someone and realizing that her love for her crush was shallow, Hanako had eaten the other scale to ease the burden of the curse and protect her from the mermaid, and in return Nene works as his assistant and almost as his priestess.

Personality: Nene Yashiro is, at her core, a bright young girl full of love. She's unflinchingly sweet, kind and optimistic, ready to help someone in need even if they just caused her harm, and has a borderline reckless faith in her loved ones. She's bumblingly earnest, and craves the approval of her peers to an almost worrisome degree. More so than that, however, Nene craves love. Her devotion leads for her to learn entire skillsets for others, showing that acts of service may be one of her primary love languages, and she loves the idea of romance, seeking admiration and friendship from others, to the point that it's actually easy to take advantage of her if you're an attractive peer... and she knows it. 

It's no surprise that she's just as insecure as she is bubbly, all things considered. She's embarrassed by and tries to hide her more unflattering features like her unusually thick ankles and personality quirks like her love of enka, her daydreaming and her very vivid reactions to her own thoughts- one could consider her a harmless liar for this. She can go into denial quickly, such as when she insists she has a date with a boy when he's really just using her to take care of his student council duties. She can be childish and incredibly impulsive, and has a tendency to act before she thinks or quickly take back her suspicions when appealed to. Some may consider her shallow or flighty, even.

It's heavily implied that she only has a few friends, and a couple may only hang out with her because of a mutual friend instead. With this, her desire for approval and her infatuation with love, it can be assumed that Nene is a very lonely girl, and this, perhaps, is the other half of the core of her character. Love and Loneliness go hand in hand, often. She's also hinted to enjoy cute spooky things, and may have enjoyed horror in the past before her life started having horror stories become reality. Recently, Nene's stubborn streak has also been highlighted- especially considering she's learned she has a year left to live and has no intent of dying any time soon.

Abilities & Inventory:

• Supernatural sight - Nene can see ghosts, spirits and other supernatural entities! Whether or not she can touch them varies- she's seen scooping up the Mokke, but has either phased through or touched Hanako depending on unknown circumstances.
• Yorishiro destruction - Nene is noted to be able to destroy yorishiro- a supernatural being's source of power and most treasured item. She does this through peeling off a holy seal on the item, which causes the boundary to fall apart and renders the supernatural being powerless. When Nene destroys a yorishiro, she quickly falls asleep and relives a memory associated with the item in her dreams. It has been noted that this ability is unique to Nene.
• Changing rumors - Nene can change and influence stories and rumors about supernatural beings, effecting their behavior and essentially rewriting them on a small scale.
• Transformation - When Nene's skin comes into contact with water, she grows pink scales. When she's completely submerged in water, she becomes a pale pink and green betta fish, though her magatama hairclips, skull brooch and uniform's ribbon remain on her form. She's still capable of speech in this form, but she definitely sounds squeakier!
• Cooking - Nene has taught herself how to cook from scratch. Although her first demonstration is shown to be... not so great, it's implied that nerves got to her. 
• Sewing - Nene has taught herself how to sew. 
• Gardening - Nene enjoys growing and cultivating vegetables and fruit, as well as flowers. She considers this to be her specialty!
• Cell phone - A normal cellphone. It has a pink case and little horns that match her magatama hair clips.
• Skull brooch - A skull brooch that can also be worn as a hairclip! Nene's never seen without it. It even shows up when she's transformed into a fish!
• Magatama hair clips - Two matching barrettes that Nene is never seen without. They even show up when she's transformed into a fish!

Suitability & Plans: Nene is a friendly girl who meshes well with all sorts of people, and is ultimately pretty forgiving for the most part, so she has no issue making friends. She has potential as a caretaker type, where she could flourish and share her love, platonic or otherwise, in a healthier way. She also would be more than willing to explore, learn new skills to help and support others, and considers herself "a woman who's solved many mysteries"- may as well add more adventures to her book, right? 

I'd love to touch on her loneliness and possible explanations as to why she feels this way, as well as let her find some self love without shame and let her be herself a little more openly, since she pretends to be into what's popular to make friends rather than let herself really shine. Other things I'd like to do is let her learn some dreamotion powers so she can stand on her own two feet when in danger instead of relying on Hanako to save her, and maybe expand on or accentuate her curse. Dreamotion might be able to out her when she's trying to stifle herself to suit "what's normal", for example, or help her shine when she's not hiding behind an admittedly shoddy mask. There's a lot of potential and I fully believe that she could flourish in this game!
